Health in Lambeth

This section describes the overall health and demographic characteristics of the people of Lambeth. This is based upon routine data and information such as birth and death statistics as well as other sources of data and information.  This information is useful for health commissioners, planners, providers and people in Lambeth and more widely.

The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is an important statutory process of the planning and commissioning cycle; and plays a major role in assessment of health and wellbeing needs within the local population. The progress on work done so far is included in this section.

The health profile has been developed by the Lambeth public health directorate. Public health is concerned with the overall health and well-being of populations and communities. It involves identifying health risks and needs, and developing plans and programmes to improve the health of the population and reduce health inequalities. We plan to publish different aspects of health in Lambeth over the next few months.

Infection control is an important function of NHS Lambeth and all NHS organisations must ensure that they have effective systems in place to prevent and control healthcare associated infection.

The public health report is an important document that informs the work of NHS Lambeth and Lambeth Council. It documents the health of the population in Lambeth, gives a public health perspective, allows work on the health of Lambeth residents to be made widely available, and makes recommendations for other organisations to act on.
